Welcome to

Phil & Judy's

Elderhostel Galleries

Our first experience with Elderhostel was in January 1999--a fabulous two-week "Naturalist Study" tour in Costa Rica. That was also our very first "group travel", and frankly we were quite hesitant about deviating from our usual, independent style. However the experience left us eager to try more of Elderhostel's extensive travel and learning programs in the U.S. and abroad.

The following year (May 2000), we indulged our passion for Italian cuisine by attending the gastronomically oriented "Food for Thought" program based in Verona, Italy. Then, in March/April 2001 we participated in "Flavors of Spain"-- another Elderhostel adventure in regional food & wine. Our first domestic Elderhostel program was the "Sierra Spectacular" at Yosemite Valley. Most recently (2004) we returned to Italy for the "Padua/Venice" program.

On the Verona tour, we started using a digital camera to record our travel, and then we created this website to share our photos with "fellow-travelers". The sections shown below will take you to galleries of our favorite shots and program highlights. We have no personal connection with Elderhostel other than as satisfied clients.

"Food for Thought" Elderhostel (Verona, Italy) :
To view the Verona photo gallery just click here, and please be patient--it may take a long time to load. If you've come to see photos from Spain, then please read on...

"Flavors of Spain" Elderhostel: ..........................
¡Hola, amigos! A selection of our tour photos can be viewed in a photo gallery--just click here.

"Sierra Spectacular/Autumn in Yosemite" Elderhostel:
A gallery of photos from the October, 2001 Elderhostel tour is now ready to view, so please click here.

In addition to the Yosemite gallery, have a look at our panoramic view of Yosemite Valley, made during a "free-time" visit to Glacier Point, which is situated more than 3000 feet above the floor of the valley. The panoramic photo results from a combinination of six separate shots (stitched together using Photoshop software.) Just click here (or on the image below) to see a larger image, which requires some scrolling to see the entire (180 degrees) view.

"Padua & Venice, Italy" Elderhostel:
Photos from the Padua/Venice Elderhostel program (April 25-May 8, 2004) are here.

Please Note that image quality usually degrades as a result of the resolution and storage-space limitations of webpage display. Consequently the photo files I post here are generally not suitable for making good quality color prints (even though the image on your monitor appears satisfactory). If you will contact me about your needs for printing, I will try to oblige by sending a higher resolution version of any requested image(s). If you're wondering what the heck I mean by "good quality"? Just click here to see a graphical comparison that helps to illustrate my point (I hope).
